Feedback stability. Is the system relatively stable, and can it be used with a large number of open microphones and lavaliere mics?

  • Many systems, including the better line arrays, generate side and rear lobes that affect available gain. How does the MAD array behave?
    • As with every system, proper system design is a key to successful system performance. However, MAD systems offer additional benefits that are unique. As noted above, as one gets closer to the array, the listener is subjected to less acoustic output, since they are only being presented with a portion of the total system output. Thus, users can stand directly in front of an array with an open mic and not cause the system to feed back.
    • Horizontal and vertical array pattern control, as well as off axis rejection from the dipole drivers provides very good overall system gain.
    • Properly tuned, MAD arrays provide very even frequency response. Since there are no crossover-related anomalies to deal with in the mid-band, lavaliere performance is optimized.
