Stereo imaging. How well can the system provide balanced imaging?

  • Typical systems all do stereo, right? How is the MAD array different?
    • Even response across the coverage pattern, especially in the key upper frequency range where localization takes place, is the key. MAD arrays are unique in their ability to project energy evenly across their coverage pattern. Since nine drivers are assigned to cover 90 o, each section of the coverage pattern is presented with equal energy. Since MAD arrays are not subject to the traditional –6dB drop-off within the prescribed coverage angle (on- to off-axis), stereo imaging is extremely broad and even.
    • Since the phase response of the array is so stable, imaging and transient response is exceptional. Voicing a system becomes a matter of finesse, instead of trauma.
